Muckle Grind

A windy day, but warm and sunny.

Up early, and packed up the car after breakfast.  Headed out to Waas before lunch, to catch the mail boat to Foula.  The crossing was rough, the mail boat fairly rolls in the sea, and poor Sammy wasn't enjoying it.  Two hours to cross, but finally arrived in Foula.  Staying in Brian Taylor's chalet for a couple of nights at Lieraback, Ham.  Chatted with various folk, and do some visiting tomorrow.  Managed a couples of walks, and Sammy has sniffed out some rabbits.  Feet up in the chalet tonight.

First walk took us up north along the road, and spectacular views of the Gaada Stack. Just before heading to the stacks, lies an old abandoned house, and the most luxurious house.  The house is lined with wooden panelling, which I always wanted to be from the Oceanic, and found out it actually is.  Parts of the house are made up from huts, which were taken here in 1938 for making the movie 'Edge of the World'.  It belonged to Mr Holbourn, and a shame it's not been saved.  Taken at Muckle Grind, north Foula.
