Ostuni

A fabulous day in Ostuni, the white city.

A stunning location, high on a hill, with the sea in the distance from some angles. It was founded in the tenth century and has beautiful buildings from so many periods and in so many ornate styles. I’ve put a couple of extras of famous views but I tried to capture the way the buildings seem to pile up on each other, almost like an Arab medina.

The opera last night was amazing. Outside, in the courtyard of the Palazzo Ducale. The female leads were brilliant, the others good, the orchestra and conductor terrific, but the opera, unsurprisingly, is rarely performed.

Tonight, at least I’ve heard of Cimarosa.

This is a magnificent adventure.....
