Excited to be en route

A very long day. Left home at 6 am for #3 daughter’s where we left the car and got the metro with them to the airport. We met #2 daughter and family at check in, and were all off with KLM to Amsterdam. Ella and Nathaniel were so excited as they’d not been on a plane since they were babies. (The other are regular fliers to Northern Ireland to see their other grandparents.)

We had 3 hours to wait till we got the KLM flight for Florence. Then it was bus to car hire place. We’d volunteered to do a Lidl shop while the others headed for the villa near Greve in Chianti. We all seemed to find different ways of getting there - ours involved a narrow rutted ‘white’ road up steep hills, but we got there at 8 pm.

The villa is an old farmhouse, with a strange layout. All the bedrooms lead off a large tile floored hall so we were awake at silly o’clock with James rocketing around. Anyway the pool is lovely and there is a small one too, and a bit of garden with a big table. I’m back blipping and the kids are already in the pool at 8 am.
