The Cornflower & the Bee

My three favourite wild flowers are bluebells, poppies and cornflowers. I scattered some cornflower seeds in my garden and the bees are loving them, including this red tailed bumble bee.

The cornflower has the nickname  "bachelor's button" which refers to the old practice of some men to wear a cornflower in one of the buttonholes on their suit 'when they are in love or when they are ready for courting'.
