Birling Gap
I took a rather long detour home via the East Sussex coast at Birling Gap and Beachy Head, stopping at Alfriston on the way to visit the first property purchased by the National Trust, Alfriston Clergy House, a medieval thatched cottage (extra).
The tide was on the turn when I reached Birling Gap, and along with the fairly strong breeze which always seems present at this site, was producing some impressive wave movement. The main image shows the view along the beach westwards, with the Seven Sisters cliffs.
I also walked along the cliff top eastwards to be awarded with a view of Beachy Head and its iconic Lighthouse (extra).
