Oh Happy Days.
Today was one of those Happy Days in more ways than one.
It started with a walk round Canal Gardens, Roundhay Park, and the Alhambra Garden. One of our favourite, and my Blip photo for today.
Then after refreshments sat outside the Mansion House cafe, with a glorious view over the park, we went on to walk round the lake.
Felt nice and cool under the trees, and there were some lovely reflections in the lake.
The weather was perfect. Sunshine, fluffy clouds, and 25C.
Lovely to see families enjoying themselves, with picnics on the grass, and riding on the little train. ( All in the extra collage.)
Some had been in Tropical World. Far too hot on a day like today.
Home for a late lunch, and then when I was sorting my photos out Mr C shouted up to say we had a visitor.
Turned out to be a lady who had lived in our house in 1971.
Their first home after she was married. Her husband was a reporter for the Yorkshire Post, and she was a teacher at Leeds High School.
They only lived her for 6 months, by which time she was expecting her first child.
They then moved to London, where her husband had a job in Fleet Street.
She was visiting friends in Leeds, whom she hadn't seen for many years, and asked them if they would kindly drive her over to see the house.
So of course I showed her round.
It has been altered since she lived here. The bathroom is now in a different place, and we have three bedrooms instead of the one large room they had.
We had a lovely chat, and she said although they only lived here for 6 months, they were very happy days, and she loved the house.
This is the third previous occupier who has knocked on our door to have a look at their old home.
All have come because they have happy memories of a very happy house.
We have been very happy here too.
It was a feeling I had as soon as I first saw the house, and I must say I feel privileged to live here.
Hopefully won't be moving for quite a while!
PS. Second extra photo a Gatekeeper Butterfly
( I think) not seen in our garden before.
