Sunday- a day of rest!
Not for these guys.
We live in a village which hasn’t got access to gas so most of the houses use oil for their heating and hot water.
After the last delivery we were informed that the oil tank was split and would have to be replaced before the next delivery.
Today was the day. The whole procedure involved calling favours, hard slog and an enormous amount of patience.
The tank which weighed 168kg empty, had to be lifted up onto our deck by a local farmer and then manoeuvred into the gap left by the old tank.
Sounds easy? Don’t believe it for one minute.
Levers and fulcrums were discussed at length and then expertly employed.
Thunder and lightning and the associated torrential rain added to the proceedings.
Our friend Ian, who is one of those practical people, can turn his hand to anything. Today we witnessed his brilliance as he patiently guided us to assist him, while he methodically worked out just how to do, what we thought was impossible.
It’s now 7.15 pm and he’s just left but not before he has made sure we can have hot water again.
What a great mate he is!
