A favourite thing

Managing budgets, and dealing with annual budget cuts, is part of life in local government.

My first meeting today was with one of our accountants. He always brings along this ancient calculator, which he is clearly very attached to. He may well have had it throughout his career, decades ago it may have been cutting edge technology.

We all have favourite things, and they probably say quite a bit about us. That an accountant should be attached to a calculator is only to be expected.

In its day it may have been considered tiny, a wonder of battery powered miniaturisation. Then again, seeing a glimpse of his wrist in the image, maybe not !
