Lockdown

Mum had a doctor’s appointment. It was a rainy day. Nothing special going on. Until...

When she rode her bike home from the hospital, she noticed a police car right next to my three jumping rocks near the police storage building. No big deal. When we went walkies just a little bit later, however, white police tape was going up, roping off a big area with my jumping rocks more or less in the middle.

It turned out there was an explosive device hidden in the saddle of a moped inside the police storage building.The National Bomb Squad was called, and decided it was a real bomb that was dangerous to destroy. So the police started to evacuate the area. At half past eight, a huge policeman was outside our door, telling us that we had to go into lockdown and couldn’t go outside for anything, not even a bedtime piddle.

Mum asked about Grandma, whose building is only a hundred meters from the site. They said she had to be evacuated, so mum went over to get her while a policeman was stationed outside our house to make sure they got back safely. And then mum asked PLEASE to give us five minutes to go to the grass. My bedtime walk was supervised by a police officer!!

Grandma spent the night with us. Around midnight, there was a loud detonation. The entire police building has been reduced to rubble. No one was hurt, thankfully.
