A view from Jeanneb

Bank Holiday sunshine ..

was a little hidden first thing this morning when we set off to walk to Bingley. But out it came before we got to Myrtle Park where we were heading to see the runners setting off on their 7.605 km run in tribute to Andrew Harper the young policeman
who was tragically killed last week. 7605 was his number and we were told that £22,000 had already been raised.
We weren’t running! but S (Wilsden Walker), who came out to both of our weekend singing events, did, so we went to support her. You can see her in the extra flanked by one of our walking friends and another very familiar blipper, Wendles56. Well done to them all turning out in this heat!

It was a good excuse for us to enjoy a morning walk, 5+ miles in total. We walked back across the park and river (Aire) and then Beckfoot Lane crossing the iconic and much photographed packhorse bridge by the ford. Loved the sparkle on the water and the independent runner who stopped to take a look over the parapet, so made this my blip.
We then crossed the main road into the St Ives Estate as Chris wanted to take a look at Betty’s wood which was decimated due to diseased trees nearly two years ago. The amazing Foxgloves of
earlier in the year have been taken over by Rose Bay Willow Herb ( nearly done ) and bracken but lots of trees are coming through.
Stopped for a chat with some people from the village and then headed up past the golf club to The Ivy Kitchen. It was very busy but we shared a table in the rear with M our piano lady from our village singing group and her husband. A nice chat and coffee followed.

Since getting home Chris has been up to church to power wash the bench that he’s pulled out from the shrubs and placed in the open, now with more of a view down the village. I had a quite successful go at cleaning the garden parasol. The cover disintegrated earlier in the summer and it has been at the mercy of the birds! It looks pretty good now so when it’s dry it can go away.
I’m still to dry out so am sitting outside doing my blip.

What a lovely Bank Holiday has been had. Great weather, lovely events, singing, walking and lots of nice people to talk to. We haven’t been more than a few miles so no traffic or public transport hassles. Perfect.
