Everyday I Write The Book

A three legged cat, sunbathing

I have no creative juice in my tank today but this picture of Scout crashed out in the thirty degree heat of the conservatory is funny enough for a blip.

Actually I have no juice of any sort. Got up at 7am and spent until lunchtime gardening, which has knackered me completely. I’m too old for all this, although it is looking good out there.

Have had some chill time reading this afternoon - and I mean that with deliberate ambiguity as the book is called Travellers In The Third Reich. Fascinating account of how people reacted to visiting Germany between the wars and their different reactions to the rise of fascism. The most striking aspects are how extensive global anti semitism was (in the sense that foreign observers were not appalled by it), how calculated and effective nazi theatre (in the sense of warping people’s perceptions through things like mass rallies and parades) was, and how liars were simply not held to account. The parallels between the techniques of Dominic Cummings / Cambridge Analytica and Goebbels / nazi propaganda are very obvious and certainly merited. Depressing.

The Dizzle came home from selling books at a Beatles Convention in Liverpool. Successful but exhausting trip. Yoga Mama went home. Strider had to work. Actually felt sorry for my boys - one driving back down the motorway and the other stuck at work on such a lovely day.

After a couple of weeks of recurring nightmares I actually had a decent night’s sleep last night and a more positive dream. The bad stuff is always the same - separation and and anxiety. Might get better as the steroids taper off. Apparently dreams become more attenuated with prednisolone.

Wonder what three legged cats dream of ... lost legs maybe ...
