Backblip: Bardsey Island
We had booked this long weekend break a while ago - a significant birthday for J, deserving of something a bit different.
But it was only a few days ago that we thought about the possibility of a boat trip to Bardsey Island. And we struck lucky - whereas previous days were booked up and/or cancelled because of the weather, we could be fitted in today, J’s birthday.
The only way of getting there is on Colin’s boat from St Meudwy, featured in the blip. No booking online, it’s a phone call and cash on the day.
Hugely enjoyable. A few people live on the island, others rent for a few days. No Wi-Fi, no mobile services, everything else very basic. A good place for a retreat. And very quiet, apart from the sounds of chattering choughs ( my favourite corvid) and moaning grey seals.
A fantastic day. Whilst it seems to have been too hot in other parts of the country, it’s been a bit cooler here. Great walking/ambling/mooching weather.
