Cropredy Lock

We were up keenly waiting for the engineer who we expected at 8.30am, and an hour late he rolled up, very chirpy with a new gearbox. He did his magic with the help of 2 mugs of tea and a bacon butty, and after a couple of hours we were on our way. The only problem now was that there is no way we can get back to the boatyard by Saturday 9.30am. At this point we don’t care, we’re just so excited to have some power. It was a bit cooler today this afternoon too and at one point we had blankets over us on the front of the boat.
We stopped at Banbury briefly for more supplies and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon chugging along in warm sunshine. Early evening we stopped at Cropredy, which is one of the prettiest spots we’ve passed and visited the 2 local pubs for a game of pool.
Sam cooked up a chorizo and bean casserole with sweet potato jackets, followed by apple (and my handpicked) blackberry crumble and custard.
