The Pig Place
We had an early start this morning as we had a reservation at the Great Western Arms in Aynho for Fred’s birthday dinner.
It was a beautiful day and quite peaceful on the canal, so less chance of bumping into other boats and pressure under bridges. R and I spent the morning doing the locks and although some of them are really tough, this week has done wonders for my Bingo wings.
Late afternoon we stopped at the Pigs Place, which had large sofa’s on the bank of the canal with fire pits, a farm shop, bar, BBQ hut, and lots of pigs and chickens. A really bizarrely place, so right up our street.
By 6.30pm we were moored outside the pub in Aynho, and as we were having an aperitif, a boat came by being driven by Phil & Patti, parents of one of Sam’s best friends. Small world. They were just starting out for the week and he was already bloodied with a torn shirt. We’ve all got a bruised at some point during the week.
Dinner was fantastic, beautifully cooked steak, and amazing service.
Back on the boat we lit 65 candles on Fred’s Birthday cake, there was so much smoke we couldn’t see Fred. Great day and night.
