Pedal For Scotland
Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,
We did it! Cycled from Glasgow to Edinburgh. It was bloody FREEZING at the start. I couldn’t feel the tips of my fingers. Thankfully the sun came out and it was a gorgeous day. Sunny (but not too hot) and no wind.
Dodzilla was great company. His chat is as appropriate as mine so there was a lot of childish giggling. We just had to be careful that we weren’t overheard by anyone!
This all started in January because Dodzilla decided to get fitter and persuaded me to sign up too as I was in o bit of a funk about my knee.
Turns out (to his surprise) that he is a really good (and very fast) cyclist. He has to slow down considerably to cycle at my pace. I suggested a few times that he did the event at his own pace and I would cycle with other people, but he insisted that we were doing it together. I’m glad that we did. I’m also glad that he talked me into doing it in the first place. There’s no way I would have been cycling if he hadn’t. I still miss running but I am happier now having this as an alternative. It’s also the last ever Pedal for Scotland and it’s good that I had the chance to finish one.
I did laugh at the options at the food stop at Linlithgow Palace- a scotch pie or a macaroni pie. Only at a sporting event in Scotland!
I had a macaroni pie. Obviously!
