Caerphilly Castle
“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.”

A restless night as I'm conscious of needing to be awake for 5.30am, so of course I wake regularly from 1am until 5am. I have a 7am call time at Caerphilly Castle for filming today in my role as a Torturer. Make-up took most of what was left of my hair, "makes you look more thuggish" they said, after telling me I looked too soft to be a torturer - then they wanted to have a quick pat of my furry bonce. One thing I like about early call times is that I get breakfast after checking in, so it's sausage, bacon and egg to set me up for the day. Not many of us in today so costume and make-up is fairly quick and we're soon in action. What's left of the morning soon passes in action on set, keeping up with direction and scurrying between set and holding area where we can relax over tea and coffee. Plastic ponchos are obligatory wear at lunch to stop me spilling food down my costume - and I thought it would have added to the effect. Damp, drizzly day adds to the sombre atmosphere of the set. A great experience and good fun with enjoyable company, and even better I was back home by 6.30pm. I grabbed a quick shot of the castle as I left, looking quite brooding and grim in the afternoon murk.
