WACKY WEDNESDAY!
Wacky - funny or amusing in a slightly odd or peculiar way
We had a great morning at Girls About Town and it was good to be back after missing last week’s programme. Our guest this morning was Sue Holden,, a Civil Celebrant, who not only specialises in funerals but is also a qualified Grief Recovery Specialist. This morning she spoke about grief in relation to the “empty nest syndrome”, which is experienced by many parents whose children - or young adults - are going off to university and perhaps leaving home for the first time at this time of year.
It was so interesting to listen to Sue, and all of us there, (Jo at the front with Sue poking her head through, Clare and her daughter Zoë and me next to her - see extra) could relate to what she was saying in one way or another. Before we knew it, the two hours had gone, but I’m sure Sue will be back at sometime in the future.
I popped in to see Mum and made her lunch, as the carer today wasn’t due to be there until 1.30, which is quite late, and after a quick chat with her, I popped home to have my own lunch before going out to Jack’s with Mr. HCB for a coffee. His suggestion, but once again, I paid - still not sure how that works but it was good to be out together anyway. We also saw two other friends in there and again, it was good to catch up with them.
I wanted to buy some vegetables to have with our meal - Mediterranean Mozzarella Chicken - so wandered down to the Co-op and Mr. HCB went to get the car. Whilst shopping, I noticed that the mince pies were out on display. I say “on display”, but actually all the boxes were piled on top of one another - so of course, you know me, I had to do a little rearranging; I must say that I think they will sell more of them now they are being displayed in a more flamboyant manner! In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if they weren’t “flying off the shelves” now that people can see them from a distance, because after all, it is only 108 whoops 98 days until Christmas! I didn’t check the sell-by date on the boxes but at £1 a box, they were a bargain, if you like your mince pies in September. They did have luxury ones at £2 a box, but the boxes didn’t look as bright and attractive, so I didn’t bother rearranging them!

comfortable enough to leave you,
means you’ve done your job.
They are not ours to keep,
but to teach how to soar
on their own.”

P.S. Thank you for all your kind comments on yesterday's beautiful roses, all of which were much appreciated - they still look and smell gorgeous.
