Diary of an Edinburgher

Murphy the Schnauzer

The weather report for today was wrong, in a good way. The predicted rain all day did not appear till the afternoon. And so we decided to pop to Porty to take Archie for a run along the sand, but mainly to check out a new (to us) cafe/bakery. We drove right along the main street and got a park once we spotted the shop.

Archie was allowed in, though it was a tiny shop. And what a wonderful smell of bread and pastries. They have other shops in town and apparently sell their bread through the famous Mellis cheesemonger. We had nice coffee and a couple of treats. And bought some bread for home. Yum yum.

Down on the beach, who should we bump into but another schnauzer... a handsome wee chap called Murphy, though he looks much bigger than Archie here because he's nearest the wide angle lens. They got on fine, and even had a wee run around together, including ganging up and barking at a wee innocent pug. We spent quite a while with the owners - though the chap was more interested in my new iPhone.

Home to watch the political shambles on TV. What a mess this country is in. When will it end and they can get on with the proper business of running a fair and prosperous country?

Got a new milk frother in pursuit of my ideal flat white at home. Getting there...
