Teaching dancers to dance
It has been a great day. The fete des Cloches et de l'Entente Cordiale started with the washer women dressed in 19th century clothes washing in the fountain and generally misbehaving! The Morris dancers arrived and joined in the fun and ate some wine and cake outside the boulangerie. We all moved up to the square for the formal Entente Cordiale ceremony with speeches and more dancing, handbell ringing food and wine. In the afternoon the Morris dancers were joined in by the Catalan dancing troupe and they danced their stuff before teaching each other their respective dances. Two local choirs entertained us in the evening but there has been a marvellous international ambiance all day long that many have commented on. The bells rang out all day but we had to shut the sound control in the afternoon after a neighbour complaint. That was a shame as so many local people had said how lovely they sounded.
