Blakehope Nick
MrM's birthday, and we had planned a picnic, a walk in the hills near Alwinton, and a meal at the Redesdale Arms on the way home. But the weather was decidedly inclement - cold and wet - so plan B was put in to action. We ate the picnic in the car, went over the Forest Drive to Kielder Castle, had a short walk in the woods, and then drove to the Redesdale Arms for a celebration meal. And very good it was too!
There's an amazing new sculpture at Blakehope Nick, the highest point (457m above sea level) on the forest drive. We walked through it to view the distant fells framed by the wooden structure.
