Sharish Success
Went round a local success story this afternoon, Sharish Gin distillery. António was an unemployed tourism teacher when he started messing around with making gin in a pressure cooker; that was only about five years ago; today he is producing hundreds of thousands of bottles, still in a handmade way.
Loved the building, with doors in the shape of the distinctive bottles, which in turn reflect the shape of Monsaraz - Mount Sharish - the arabic name for the rock rose.
Visited the Adega, swam in the Lake, and now going for a celebratory meal at Cecílio and Ermelinda's. Leaving early tomorrow for Lisbon and the airport...
Gratefuls:
- António's hope-giving story
- still swimming in October
- delicious passion-fruit and orange blossom infused gin and tonic
