Finally.....Goodbye to the Viking
Today was the day that a couple coach/Moms from the Saltspring Rowing Club could come over to pick up the quad. Of course it’s been dead calm for 2 days, and wind is predicted tonight (making us a bit nervous about timing) but the weather gods were with us and they were out of here by noon towing her in calm water. One husband got recruited —turns out he was one of the workers building my studio! (small world) The one gal.(coach) in orange jacket had rowed in Seattle’s Opening Day several times when she was younger… I’m happy as I think the Viking will be well loved over there…it’s the perfect indestructible boat for teenagers. Also a bit sad to see it go ( esp for H) They’ll be back “sometime” to get the floats..they took all the tools and extra parts today.. (extra...their crew..taping a towline).)
And….3:20 PM still no wind but now no power… We walked up to see what the problem could be… not ours…prepared to walk farther , not knowing who might be here, to report it, when some neighbors in their vehicle came along and told of another neighbor who felled a tree which seems to have fallen on the line…!! .figured out who, but saved us the walk. Saw the BC hydro boat on way back and it’s restored at 6:20 PM. Pretty good service, methinks. (but wait til we see that lumberjack!! :-))
a different day.
