A Welcome Refuge
On a day like this, stopping off at Bellingham's Public Market on the way home from errands seemed like the only sensible thing to do.
Craving something warm and tasty, I remembered reading that Ciao Thyme Cafe's soups were available at Trapeze Cafe & Deli at the market, and was pleased that today's offering was vegan black bean chili -- marvelous! -- and so was the blueberry sour cream muffin from Mount Bakery that I shared with Phil.
I was delighted to see the wide range of local items that Trapeze Cafe carries and their emphasis on fresh, tasty food, most of which is organic. And since this weather is likely to persist, I have a good excuse to try a hot cocoa or a mocha next, made from "premium, organic, single origin, 74% Felchin dark chocolate from the Dominican Republic in our mochas and hot cocoa, never chocolate syrup. Like our coffee, the prices that the farmers receive is above and beyond the norm for "Fair Trade."
The Horseshoe Cafe may have a long and colorful history, but you'll be much more likely to find me at Trapeze!
