Another Languedoc year...

The last log

Our woodstore comprises a massive pile of five-year seasoned logs at La Caumette. When I say logs I mean three-metre-long trunks and branches. Periodically we chainsaw them into manageable sizes and bring them back to the open fire at Le Couvent.

Recently, however, we've been burning old vine stocks from the vineyard. Today I realised that I was powering through the vines and wished I had some logs here. Aha, there's one. Way too long, and the chainsaw's at the other house, 10km away. Oh well, only one thing for it - put it all on and let the fire cut it. That should take three days and nights to burn.
