Home

I'm having a very rich hot chocolate at the end of another very busy day.  The apartment is very quiet in the hope that Euan will not repeat his adventures of last night when his Mum and Dad barely got a couple of hours' sleep between them.  He fed and grizzled and fed and grizzled pretty much the whole of the night.  Becky has already gone to bed and Rob is relaxing after a tedious drive back from Salem when Boston seemed to get further and further away as we drove towards it.

We all five managed to fit in to the car, to save on train journeys, to do some work on the house and for Becky to see how it is progressing.  Greg the Bathroom Guy is in the process of ripping out the existing bathroom, which is very tired and dark and unsuitable for a young family.  Rob, Tony and I did some cleaning up of the sanding dust in the bedrooms and then set to work on the staircase, taking off the old paintwork and sanding down the risers ready for painting.

A break for lunch and burgers all round from '5 Guys' delivery, a cuppa in the sunshine on the verandah and then it was back on.  Becky and I took Euan for a walk in the stroller around the very pretty cemetery around the corner, which has a pretty pond at its centre, lots of Fall colour and several turtles of varying sizes sunning themselves on a log.  It would make a great park but sadly.....

Lots of houses around here are getting into the Halloween spirit.  Halloween is big in Salem, wonder why??  They are holding lots of events each weekend in October which is one reason why the traffic was so bad on the way there and back.

I mowed the back lawn whilst Tony finished his first set of sanding and Rob cleared out some old plants, including a species of nightshade with toxic berries which definitely has to go, then Euan was fed and we were ready to head back.  The previous owner has left several items of furniture including a very smart table and chairs and matching dresser, but also a great rocking chair which suits Becky perfectly for feeding.  I blipped the pair of them intent on feeding with the afternoon sun slanting through the window on to them and the beautifully newly refurbished wooden floor (thanks Greg the Floor Guy), but that one is for family consumption and my blip today is the first home of their own with Becky and Euan returned from our walk, and very lovely it is too.
