Crab

Back down to the civilisation of Sapporo ( not that Asahidake was particularly un-civilised mind you ).
One of the specialities of the region is Snow-Crabs and there are a number of quite fancy ( and expensive ) restaurants with full meals based on these delicacies.
Not being entirely sure whether this was the thing for me, we took a slightly conservative approach and went to a more varied place nearby and had a more varied meal.
Very very good it was too - we had crab, tuna and anemone.
