Bar-tailed godwits

Limosa lapponica. I cycled along to Scapa pier and beach to see what was about and counted fifty-two bar-tailed godwits- which is the largest nunber I've seen on this beach. Not a lot on the water, though the red-breasted merganser males were displaying to impress the females. On the Crantit Trail back to town I watched a male hen harrier hunting.
