Jessops - The End!

Much as I expected when I walked past here and very nearly blipped the shop front on Wednesday evening, the end of Jessops has arrived. Only a hastily printed notice stuck to the shutter on the outside and the only activity inside is the stock being boxed up.

Their store in Nuneaton was only a small one - barely more than a cupboard really. But, probably one of the contributing factors to their downfall. A town this size just couldn't support them and justify a shop at all. A story repeated many times across the UK I'm sure.

It does however give the likes of Nikon and Canon a major headache - it has removed a major channel to market for their entry level equipment. I wonder if the few remaining independents get some support.
