Portugal Workshop - Day 4
It was forecast to rain this morning but we still got up early to photograph a possible sunrise - photographers are ever hopeful! It did not rain but it remained overcast with flat light. We photographed boats on the edge of the lagoon playing around with long exposures and bobbing boats creating ghostly effects and then found some incredible old, derelict cottages with peeling paint giving us good textures and colours.
We got back for a late breakfast and by now it was raining. We then had time to edit images and met up again to discuss a Photoshop technique using luminance masking.
By late afternoon the rain had stopped and so we decided to go out to photograph the little church on the beach again. Although it was now clear it was extremely windy and cold on the beach. We were standing in the water in our wellies with waves crashing around us to get phots of the church, and it is a miracle that none of us dropped our cameras or filters in the water. It was extremely challenging and within an hour after sunset I had such cold hands I could no longer handle my camera properly, fumbling with the dials as my fingers were so numb so I packed up.
Our last day tomorrow, we are hoping for a colourful sunrise but we won't know until we get to the location. We leave to go home tomorrow and I am looking forward to seeing Gavin and Xena again!
