Dürer Exhibition in Paris
This is a shot on the stairway to the exhibition, Albrecht Dürer and His Age at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris (it ended today, unfortunately). It was a superb show, with a profusely illustrated catalogue (which I will acquire), including the German area drawings from the Beaux Arts' collection from roughly 1480 to 1630, with many additional prints and illustrated books. Edit: at the suggestion of a blipfan, I'm adding this to my shadow series.
The large image on the wall is a selective detail, showing Death on Horseback from a wood engraving (in four blocks--the original is displayed on the right) from 1532 by Erhard Schön (1491-1542) of a "Cortège of Soldiers Accompanied by Death"--illustrative of the period, which saw extended wars.
At the end of the afternoon we attended a wonderful guitar recital (with bible readings) by our friend Marie-Madeleine, whom you see here visiting us last winter.
