Familiar flowers
As I sit here shivering in my marino wool top and cashmere jumper I am reflecting on how strange it is for things to feel normal again. After nearly 3 months of unfamiliar sights, sounds and sensations it is most welcome. The amount of space here is the thing that struck me most as I wandered around today in weather that I can only describe as being akin to a perfect spring day in Scotland.
The hostel is great and I am sharing the room with a bubbly Welsh lass and a lady from the north island who has her own small holding and many stories of her experiences with Woofers. For those of you who may not be familiar with this it is a volunteer organisation which sends people with varying degrees of enthusiasm, to farms mainly, to work in exchange for food and accommodation. After hosting a few during my time with Seb and Clair I have some stories of my own. Was having a look at the site thinking it might be a way to recoup some of the wasted airfare and found a place working for a guy who is building his very own Dr Seuss castle! Might have to join to find out more about that, sounds utterly and brilliantly bonkers.
