Re-Jig
This was a little Christmas gift we received. I think it is supposed to be a decoration to be hung from the Christmas tree but I have taken out the string and sat it on the side in the kitchen.
It has been another day of dog walks and a trip to the allotment. Today at the allotment I was on the hunt for caterpillars. Something has been eating the kale (nearly all of it!). I found two green caterpillars on it yesterday. I couldn't believe caterpillars would survive the cool winter temperatures but they must be more hardy than I thought and able to survive even light frosts. I didn't find any more caterpillars today and I did start to wonder if birds have also been eating the kale. So, I netted it over to see if that helps.
I also made an attempt at digging up some of the nettles on my new plot and quickly realised that was going to be very hard work. So, it is back to the drawing board - well, a search in my no-dig gardening book to see if I can suppress the nettles for six months or so before I attempt to dig them up. That is what I think I will now do. So, I will be laying down cardboard and shovelling horse manure on top of the nettles in the hope it prevent any growth and start the rotting down process.
In the evening I reorganised what we have in/on some of the kitchen cupboards/work surfaces. We have a very small main working area in the kitchen so we are trying to rejig things so as to try to create less of a jam in the 'golden triangle' between the sink, hob/oven and fridge. We shall see how it works tomorrow!
Hoping your day was a good one. x
