Slice of light

Last light in the sky this evening.  The view from the kitchen window at about 16:45.  Elsewhere in the sky, in a break in the cloud, a thin slice of moon (a waxing crescent) shone piercingly bright.  The dark winter days do have their moments of delight as well as their frustrations.

It has been a busy day.  On our morning dog walk Merlin rolled (twice!) in something very smelly and disgusting and needed a thorough bathing in the garden before being allowed back in the house.  He knew he was in disgrace but I am not sure he knew why.  I am not sure if anyone has really worked out why dogs roll in smelly (often dead!) things.

I also popped up to the house at Liss, to check on it, do some cleaning and bring down a car load of belongings which will be more useful to us here. I also have a new pile of things to take to the charity shop.

After lunch and some form filling-in it was time for the afternoon dog walk which on these short days of light, needs to be done at about 15:00 if we are to take Merlin for a run in the field.  We were careful to ensure he didn't go back to his rolling spot of this morning!

I've just baked some apricot and sultana rock cakes to keep us sustained until we eat dinner. I am feeling pretty tired so plan to sit down later and relax.

Hoping your day has gone well. Looking forward to catching up with your blips.
