Christmas 2019

We had a wonderful morning. It was our first ever just the two of us at our own home together and it was really special. She woke around 5.15 and I wasn't ready to face the day, so she went and did her stretches then read her book for a bit. About 6am I relented and we started our day together - once I had the compulsory Christmas morning cup of tea. We discovered "he had been" - there were both presents in her stocking and under the tree, which she enjoyed sorting for their respective recipients. It was a quiet time of gift unwrapping, with a soundtrack of Michael Buble.

At 8.30 we headed out to our first Parkrun in the new one that has this year started very near to us. It was a fabulous festive atmosphere amongst the 300 people who came out. She was speedy and ran with friends. I was simply grateful to make it round the course - which is both trail and undulating - as it was my first run after a month of being really quite unwell. Free mince pies at the end were a bonus, as were Christmas hugs from friends such as B and some other buddies.

From there, we went to church. Muddy trainers and all. The Christmas Day venue was packed out. It was wonderful to see our church family. We have previously been to our old Scarborough church so it was nice to be at our own church for Christmas.

We went home, showered and de-mudded, changing into slightly smarter festive clothes! We packed up and headed to Granny and Grandads.

Santa had also visited us there, to her delight. Her usual job of putting the angel on the tree awaited her. Santa had left our apples, satsumas and chocolate coins along with some great gifts. We had a chat with Uncle Simon & a little wave to Rupert. Christmas Dinner took place, with Katie's requested profiterole dessert for her. We'd been late having dinner so we finished right in time to head to my aunt's for more Christmas gifts and yet more food. Games as standard, though Katie didn't have as much fun as usual because her closest in age cousin wasnt there and the games didn't really include her this time.

Though it was late, we were glad to arrive to our home, snuggling down in our beds.

Happy Christmas, blipworld xx
