Winter's Quiet

I suppose there are many people who couldn't get out of their roads for snow this morning. We couldn't get out of our little close, but once in the lane, and then the main Chichester Road, we would have been ok. This is looking away from the village to the old railway bridge on the Chichester-Midhurst line, with open countryside just beyond. You can see the other way into the village Here during Monday's flurry.

This might be winter's quiet. While the glint
Of hollies dark in the swollen hedges lasts -
One mile - and those bells ring, little I know
Or heed if time be still the same, until
The lane ends and once more all is the same.
