Morning weather

This photo was taken from the Snake Pass but not far up the road or it would just been of clouds.  The temperature was dropping and there was some sleet in the air.

I did watch some of the cricket but all the wrong bits i.e. I saw the rain delayed start, the  lunch break etc. missed almost all of Ben Stokes shots and completely missed Mark Wood hitting 5 sixes !

fish and chips for lunch.  Just chips for me ... allergic to fish!

We had a visitor this afternoon (Angela) who has become a close family friend in recent years. Mum has known her longer but in the last decade a good friend to us all.  We had tea and Lemon Drizzle cake and yes once again some of the talk was of politics, possible Labour leaders etc.  but also talk of families and photos. Then we got on to retail and the slow collapse of the High Street chains. Angela had been to M&S with her husband and he got 2 pairs of trousers £4.99 each which backs up all we have heard about them over ordering and failing to sell stock.

The best thing on TV this week has been in the afternoon The Doctors (BBC1 at 13:45) has been good with 2 outstanding episodes both of which had the quality of a Play for the Day rather than the Soap badge the programme is allocated.  Today’s episode had two parallel stories of people locked into a situation one in prison (one Doctor is wrongly imprisoned) and one in the surgery, it was tense and well acted.  My favourite was earlier in the week featuring receptionist and new practice manager dealing patients at an evening surgery and learning a lot about each other in the process.

The weather wasn’t bad all day (bright sunshine in the last daylight hour) but as I type this rain is battering on the windows.
