Grooming Big George
Most of the day was creating a pile of fuel for the log burner but while I was out I took the opportunity of another strangely unwet day to see if the (natural, algae I assume) staining on the Big George carving could be cleaned off prior to a fresh oiling.
Pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too difficult to shift enough to recover the surface. I wasn't looking for pristine but the staining had been acting as rather a camouflage for the features, especially on the face. Selective cleaning should actually bring out the details, such as the 'tashe.
