Sally Mair - Loving life

Look what I found

This stunning little iris reticulata was enjoying the minimal sunshine today. It and another have appeared in one of my troughs in the front garden, it is south facing and against a wall so I guess it's as warm as it can be there. There was a pink and a solitary white geranium flower too, what a surprise.
I've had no energy today at all, I lay around and read my book all morning then after cooking is both a minimal effort lunch of a n extremely tasty fried egg roll I went out into the garden. I pruned the roses in the back during the week and today I did those in the front. I'm not really feeling virtuous though, just relieved that it's done. I then came back into the house and nodded off. Not much company from me.
We had the obligatory and delicious Macsweens haggis with neeps and tatties to celebrate Burns Night. I do approve of ready made mashed turnip, it's so much less effort. I'm always surprised that so many Scots of my age or older still have all their fingers, what with Burns nights and Hallowe'en. Turnip preparation is not for the faint heated.
I've put an image of my favourite Burns poem as an extra, it's particularity appropriate after the day I've have had!
