Life from city to village

Holocaust Memorial Day

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day. My son and I went to the event in Leeds Town Hall. It was, of course, moving. There was particular attention to the stories of those who escaped, or were still alive at the end, who came to the city. There was also attention to those who tried to stand up to the regime, in one way or another. I hugely admire their bravery. To resist, when you know that resisting may get you killed, is amazing. But then, when some is about helping that single person, providing shelter, hiding them - sometimes I wonder why more didn't do that.
