New kids on the block
Finally got around to going to the vegan cafe that opened a few weeks ago in Guildford. Delightful place, great food, lovely people. And a dog called Mel.
The Brasil Vegano does light bites, incredible cake and an oat milk mocha to die for. And the toilet is clean and full of parrots.
That was the highlight of my day. The rest was domestics and admin. The central heating works have been commissioned and TSM completed day 6 of 15 of her radiotherapy.
Wished Big Brother happy birthday. 72 today but very chipper.
Also today was Holocaust Memorial Day. Many lost their lives primarily because they were Jewish but in other cases because they were gay, or disabled or some other minority that the masters of hate felt made them legitimate targets. The older I get the more I appreciate that I am lucky to have the life I have and think often of the inspiration of Victor Frankl, holocaust survivor and therapist and his seminal work Man’s Search for Meaning:
“It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life—daily and hourly. Our answer must consist, not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual.”
