Diary of an Edinburgher

We meet Hamish!

Today, once Archie was out with Elizabeth we set off to try out a new cafe. We walked there - '10 minutes' said JR (she'd been there on Friday). Well, 25 minutes later, we made it. I took the bus home, not because I’m lazy (oh yes I am) but because the first of the Six Nations rugby matches had started.

We had a good seat by the window, and found out that it was now 'dog friendly' (it wasn’t when we first went there a couple of years ago, but it's under new management). But I made the wrong choice. I am always, always tempted by 'pancakes'. And I am always, always disappointed. They are never what I expect. About twenty years ago I had a stack of divine, light fluffy 'pancakes' in Geelong, Australia, with piles of fresh fruit and yoghurt. I have NEVER had that again, but I keep trying. Today I had two humungous rolled up 'pancakes' which were very thick and rather dry. They could have been used as carpet underlay. I have now officially given up pancakes. I did have an excellent flat white though, so it'll make a good destination when I’m tempting myself out with Archie - the scones looked good.

In the evening we popped over to visit Hazel - her 'grand-dog, Hamish, was visiting from London. And what a wee smasher he is! (I won’t mention that he piddled on the carpet.)

Watched two games of rugby. One good thing about February - the Six Nations tournament. Though Scotland did not get off to a good start...  *sigh*
