Primordial Soup

Found a few spots not buried in snow amongst the reeds along the lake shore. Although I like the rich orange colour and the bubbles, it's quite disturbing to see the film of hydrocarbons floating on the water.

I can only think it washes up there from all the small engines used by boats, snowmobiles and jet skis. I have no desire to dip my toe, let alone go swimming (if it were warm enough).

As an image though, it reminds me that nature has a wonderful way of cleansing itself of man's worst actions. Given enough time!
