Mijas Pueblo
Today again started cloudy then brightened up. We took the short drive uphill to Mijas Pueblo. A place we have visited many times before but always in the heat of the summer and the bustle of tourists. Today was just different we ambled in what felt like a warm Spring day and we discovered the non tourist traditional areas, delightful narrow streets, spotlessly clean and adorned with pots of flowers. Small churches with doors welcomingly open and fountain spouts of spring water. Selection of which are in extras.
After a tapas lunch in the Secret Garden we did go back to the more familiar streets, cafes and souvenir shops. They are also nice as are the Parque la Muralla botanical gardens with views to the sea and bullring up the hill.
I have also included a photo of the donkey taxis which have many signs reassuring of their welfare and how the council regularly checks them. Whilst their history no doubt plays an important role do we really still need to work them and tie them up like this today ?
