History Day
We had to do some longer driving today to get to Historic Brattonsville where we learned about the history of this plantation that occurred in the 1700s and 1800s. But before we got there we had to make a couple of u-turns for missed photo opportunities. One place was a junk store along the road out of Landrum and the other was an old grocery store that was in a little community further down the road. Always interested in the old places. A photo of each place in the extras!
The main photo is one of the cabins at Historic Brattonsville that was restored which probably was used as a field worker's cabin. We spent about three hours at this location today! I have to share a photo of the farm animals we saw in the third extra!
We had another hour or so to drive to the next location which was Rose Hill Plantation. It was late in the day so we could not have the tour of the house with all the information but the ranger was kind enough to let us in the house to take a few photos.
We then went to find some food as we had nothing to eat but a couple of cookies since breakfast at the Inn and it was close to 6pm! Then we still had a little over an hour drive to get to my house for the night. A long long day! Even though the sun was warm today, the wind was blowing from the north and was very cold! I will be going to bed as soon as this blip is posted!!
Tomorrow is a battle between the Union and Confederate Armies! At least we don't have to get on the road too early for that drive!
