Once again I have taken slight liberties posting this picture the day after it was taken last night with Evelyne and Don at Willi's Wine Bar. I took some other pictures today but I'm a bit of a photo stalker and I like this semi-candid shot the best. Willi's has a 'small plates' menu and there is often a bit of preliminary discussion about who will share what (if anything) with whom, but soon dishes are being passed and too much (delicious) food is being consumed....
We had a lovely evening together and as we bid them good night we also hoped that, it being Sunday evening, the tattoo convention that was taking place at their hotel when they checked in had wrapped up by the time they got back.
We had a small class this morning and I think it was the first time I have ever been in a class with more men than women. There was much discussion about Coronavirus (Bob brought his own mat) and the revelation that the majority of surgical masks and hand sanitizers are made in China.
I read somewhere that in order for it to be effective, hand sanitizer should be at least 60% alcohol. We already know all about R95 surgical masks which filter smoke as well as viruses. My store of knowledge about things I never thought I would have to know anything about is growing apace these days.
Our son is COO of Easton sports which makes, among other things, baseball bats. He tells us that all Easton baseball bats are all made in China or elsewhere in Asia. Upon orders from on high, Matt closed a factory in Matamoros, Mexico a couple of years ago. He thought it was a bad idea and said so but was overruled. Too bad, because now until the current Coronavirus crisis is resolved, Easton has no baseball bats to sell. And even if they did, setting a price with the constantly fluctuating tariff is problematic.
Wouldn't it be an irony if the tanking economy due to a threat of a pandemic is what brings Trump down? Dare I even think it? He, of course, says there is no crisis and whatever it is is the fault of the Democrats.
We met Evelyne and Don for lunch and some wine tasting at VJB. The weather was beautiful and we elected to sit outside. The wind gusts were chilly and we thought perhaps it had been premature to have the umbrella raised, but it didn't slow down our conversation much. In fact we lingered for quite awhile because we knew they would be taking their leave to continue their trip south as soon as we finished lunch and we were in no hurry to say goodbye. It was a lovely visit....
