Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2020 Thursday — Tristan’s Surgery

The photos are (clockwise starting in the top left): Tristan before surgery; Tristan being rolled to surgery; Tristan after surgery.

This evening Tristan is recovering from having had his appendix removed by laparoscopic surgery at about 2:00 this afternoon at the children’s hospital in San Diego.

We are thankful for a very successful surgery. We are also thankful for our former son-in-law, John, who is really like a son to us; he phoned us early this morning and offered to drive to San Diego this afternoon to spend the night with Tristan. John has been like a grandpa to Tristan all of Tristan’s life. I said, "YES!" To John. I am so relieved! Des asked us late last night in a text if we would come to San Diego to spend the night in the hospital tonight with Tristan so she and Emillia could go home.

Well we had told our other granddaughter, Ashly, (John’s daughter) last weekend that we would babysit RJ this Friday morning. We had not told Des about that commitment. All of a sudden we found ourselves bewildered.

Before John’s phone call to us, we had decided Mr. Fun would go to San Diego and tomorrow morning by myself, I would get up about 4:00 to prepare and leave the house about 5:00 to drive to Ashly’s house to arrive about 6:00 to get little RJ and bring him back to our place and care for him until the afternoon. Ashly is a high school teacher.

Well, John could have said he'd take care of RJ (which is what he does every Wednesday), but he offered to do the harder task and drive to San Diego and stay all night in the hospital, so Mr. Fun & I can be together and be with RJ.

I know this is too complicated for my Blip-page, but someday I’ll be glad I recorded it here.

Good night from SoCal,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
