Wildflower beside the bike trail
Wednesday
The day started with good news from Laura, that the US Embassy has arranged a repatriation flight for the day after tomorrow. The school has given their reluctant permission, and she has put her name down for it. Unfortunately she was in the supermarket by the time she saw the message, and it was a limited time frame to reply, so she ended up spending longer in the supermarket than she should have, replying and giving her details. She won’t know for sure until tomorrow whether she’s on it. It’s a quick turnaround, but she has a case packed already just in case! It wasn’t an easy decision since the Covid numbers are really climbing over here, whereas in Kuwait their numbers are relatively low, and they have had no deaths so far. Also, she would hate to be responsible for getting us sick. However, as I mentioned a few days ago, the lockdown, the uncertainty and ups and downs of recent weeks have taken their toll on her emotionally, and she felt she really wanted to come home to be with family, and where she can at least sit out in the garden. She also did not want to have to spend the whole summer in Kuwait, and who knows how long it will be before we get to any degree of “normal”.
Cycling for our exercise today, starting from South Lebanon - I managed 15 miles today. A few wildflowers are now beginning to push their way up through last years dead leaves.
