Flower Friday : : Cistus

There are some advantages to Zoom classes. I slept late this morning and had just enough to go into the next room in my pajamas, get out my mat and join the class. I took a few moments after class to upgrade my attire and rake my fingers through my hair (I don't own a comb or a brush) before joining  the Zoom coffee meeting.

It takes a statistician to interpret the numbers published every morning in the newspaper, but it does seem that sequestering ourselves is paying off. There are still new cases of Covid19 in the county,  but it appears that they can all be attributed to people who were exposed to a known infected person with whom they were in contact. Sadly this means that the numbers of infected health care workers is rising, but the cases of community contact are falling.

Our stay at home order extends through the end of April, but then the big question will be, what next?  Will they continue if for another month? A staggering number of people find themselves with no income and are going to have to be able to go back to work in order to survive.

Jim came by with wine...he spent the day trolling through several stores looking for different items. The same fellow who let him into Target, was telling people as he was leaving that they would have to wait until the hour reserved for 'older patrons' was over. He went to Costco and said he had never seen so few people in the enormous store. For those of us who aren't supposed to leave home, the days are assuming that 'Groundhog Day' sort of predictability, but going out for 'essential' activities is becoming more and more unpredictable. Peter has gone back to school to shelter in place with some of his roommates. Classes are still being given remotely but Peter was really missing his friends. I suspect a girl is involved....

The local restaurant is delivering Easter dinner. We ordered one for Jim and Dana since they have been doing quite a lot of fetching of food (and drink) for us. The weather is supposed to be nice this weekend so we are considering the idea of bringing our own dinner and eating dinner outside with Dana and Jim and Will... at two appropriately distanced tables...

Given the fact that they don't really like eating outside ('too hot, too windy, too many bugs', says Dana) we have had a lot of outdoor meals with them in the last year. During the power shutdowns in October, Jim would get take out at restaurants near his work where the power was still on, and we would eat it in their garden while it was still light outside.

We're still eating take out and we're still outside, but at least the lights and the heat are still on inside. There is much to be grateful for....

The extras are for Blipper Dakers who is interested in figuring out a way to resurrect the old 365 Book
