The cuckoo comes in April
The cuckoo sings in May
She changes her tune in the middle of June
And then she files away.

Well the cuckoo that I heard this morning whilst cycling had not heard this little ditty as she sang away accompanied by Mr Woodpecker on the drums.

As planned I flatted back the etching primer on the Bentley with grade 600 grit wet and dry. It's only as I've said before when you get up close that blemishes are highlighted and unfortunately this was the case today as there were three raised convex dents caused by stones being flipped up from the road and hitting the underside of the mudguard. When flatted back they wore through to the metal. The only way to eradicate them was to hit them with a hammer to turn them to a convex dent which could then be filled. There were also one or two other areas which needed slight attention. Still at the end of the day all the paintwork was flatted back with just a few areas which need further work tomorrow. There was also a little time to start work on the headlights so I removed the brackets which hold them to the car and with the help of Nitromors and a wire brush in my electric drill I stripped off all the old paint. These brackets are very heavy duty. One looks as if it's made of cast brass while the other looks as if it's made from bronze. They are both heavy lumps one weighs in at 3lbs and the other at 3.25lbs. You certainly would not get anything like this on a modern car.

My new spray gun arrived today and I'm looking forward to using it tomorrow.

Early evening we Skyped Hayden Astra and Co. Hayden told us about the rat he had caught in his trap and told us that it is illegal to set it free so he decided to drown it which was not a pleasant experience so he has bought an air rifle to shoot the next one.

Ros did her weekly shop today and found that going that little bit earlier she did not have to queue and she even managed to get into Marks and Spencer's with out queueing but found that their dine in for two wasn't that exciting this week.

Well the highlight of my ride this morning was seeing and saying good morning to double dog. She is the only one of my regulars I have seen recently. Everyone else is just exercising because of the virus. Here to day and..........?
Another day working on the Bentley. Today I managed to get the high build undercoat on three quaters of the car. My new spray gun worked well once I got it adjusted properly and I got use to using it as it's a lot heavier then the others I have used.
Tomorrow I will finish spraying the rest of the high build and then painstakingly flat it all back using a find grade 1500 grit wet and dry. This will get the car ready for its top coat.
The Bentley is beginning to look good and I am starting to imagine it with its top coat on and as I do this it again highlights tiny little marks that need to be attended to. So microscopic filling is now the order of the day which all takes a lot of time.
The Bentley is like having a job. I go off to the garage at nine stop for coffee at eleven for twenty minutes or so. Lunch at one for half an hour tea at three thirty and finish at six. Then start again tomorrow. Still I'm enjoying seeing the fruits of my labour growing.
