Evening walk

This is part of my evening walk with Oscar - it's a narrow path leading away from the train station, on one side are the gardens of houses built 1950's onwards and on the other two huge houses one old and one new with enormous gardens! The old one is  hidden behind high old walls and the other behind a Cornish hedge, 2 stoned walls with soil between and in this hedge beech growing on top! The people who built the house took down the original old wall and put up a bland wall - the council fined them and they had to take it down and have the cornish hedge rebuilt! They also had to fill in their swimming pool which had no planning permission! The path leads to the local primary school. Oscar is very put out if I decide not to come up the steps from the station and do a shorter walk! The lane has dappled sunshine and the birds sing happily in the trees and forage amongst the foliage and earth at the edges. Our walk tends to coincide with the arrival of the train and he will refuse to move until everyone has got on and off! Since lockdown the train is usually empty and there are no people waiting to board.
